What's a reasonable deal?

Hi,
I live in the N. VA area. Wondering what constitutes a reasonable deal on a new SC 430. Is $4K off sticker a possibility?

Welcome to Club Lexus!

Cars sell for different prices across the country so unless someone from Virginia wants to chime in may I suggest you contact a couple local dealers in your area to compare? Also try CarsDirect.com as I find they have a pretty accurate market price.

Good luck. :)

Thanks. Agree that prices vary. I have established a pretty good idea about how prices relate to each other nationally so all data is helpful.

Mid-Atlantic is typically a bit softer than SCal, S. FL and TX on hot cars. The SC is pretty played out though in terms of pent up demand though so I'm thinking national prices should be fairly level.

Getting $5K+ off is very good news.

Where are you located in Virginia? If you're close enough to Maryland, try Lexus of Silver Spring. They have been my Lexus dealer for five Lexus vehicles (including 2 SC430s). I purchased a (then) new SC430 from them in May `04, and they knocked $4,500 off the sticker. Given the time of year (Winter) you could probably do the same (if not better) on a deal. Good luck!

I'm about a mile from Lindsay but will consider SS as I don't really care for them. Thanks for the tip.

I agree on checking with www.carsdirect.com After all, if the dealer's unwilling to beat that price, just get it from carsdirect.

North Jersey List just over 67k, walked out the door at 60k + tax + registration

Good deal?

Well I was quoted 66 and change for the car. The residual tho was somewhat higher than what is on the websites. Its a lease that I am looking for and I have like $2800 in remaining payments for my current lexus. Offer was $1075/mo inc tax. 1800 Drive off. 15k miles and 39 mo.

Sales person got offended when I was offered a deal which saved me about $1600 during the lease in a slightly smaller payment and only first payment drive off cost. Person asked me if I would drive 4 hrs to have car serviced at their facility and that they are worth the $25/mo dif and the extra drive off costs.

Dealres shouldn't discriminate if you buy cars from other dealer. They making profit in service anyways arent they?

Well does anyone know if this was a fair deal? I live in Norther FL.

Thanks.

BigHat,

Go to Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly, you can get out the door for 59.5, friend of mine just picked his up there yesterday.

59.5K OTD????? Good Lord!!! is VA another none sales tax state???? I think we should move.

BigHat Dec 30, 2005 04:50 AM

VA has a reduced sales tax for cars. It's 3% vs 4.5% for other purchases.

One nasty tax we have that you CA don't have to worry about is Personal Property Tax. In Arlington County, VA it's $4.25 per 100.00 valuation and you PAY IT EVERY YEAR !!!

JAXGS Dec 30, 2005 02:06 PM

Ahh taxes. If they don't get it from you one way they will get it the other. If I buy a car out of state can I get it serviced at my local dealer? I was told they were worth a $2000 difference for the best service in the state....
