Hey talwang!

I was looking at that SC with the ISF wheels and start to wonder how much work is it to retrofit OEM ISF brakes onto a SC430?

Common sense tells me the 2 chassis have nothing in common, the SC430 is a 2GS chassis and ISF is a 2IS chassis, sounds very different, but wonder how much you know about this?

I want all the hardwares from a ISF on my SC430.....except the 5.0L, I don't like the low pitch sounds from that 5.0L.....

I haven't seen that anyone has tried the ISF BBK on the SC430 so far.
However, I have seen some Japanese tuners that installed the LS460 bbk to the SC430.
You will need the adapters/brackets in order to do the conversion.

Unlike the shops in US, I believe quite a few auto performance shops in Asia can make those conversions in house if you buy the bbk kits from them.

Maybe it is mainly because the shops in Asia have less liability plus the buyers generally don't like to sue if something goes wrong. haha

Default Need confirmation this combo will work

I just bought my car last week, I'm amazed how much I've learned from this forum. I've read many great posts on wheel/tire conversions and I think this should work without mods.

Wheels
Vossen VVS-CV2 Matte Silver Machined w/ Stainless Lip
5x114.3
20x9 offset +32 (only comes in 20, 32, & 38 - I would like to do +20, but don't think it will fit)
20x10.5 offset +45 (only comes in 15, 25, & 45 - I would like to do +25, but don't think it will fit)

Tires
245/30/20 (only .27% too slow from stock)
285/25/20 (only .38% too fast from stock)

Can anyone confirm that this will work without mods? Thanks in advance.

I can see you have done your homework well.

The recommended setup (9" +24, 10.5" +30) is already at the edge of rubbing, so anything more aggressive would require either some sort of fender works or stretched tires to some extent.
Do you plan on adding body kit and lowering your car?
If not, then try to stay on the conservative side wheel fitment wise.

Also, 245/30 and 285/25 are what they called rubberband tires.
Although the overall diametter is close to oem 18" tires, ride quality sucks big time and your rims would get damaged easily due to less sidewall cushion and protection.

I'm 99% sure this will work. But I'm about to order them new. So I want to be 100% sure. I'm looking at AME Shallen AX in 20x8.5 +20 front, and 20x9.5 +20 rear. I want them to sit fairly flush, but don't want to worry about rubbing. My old wheels were the same size, but with +35 offsets. They wore through the wheel liners in the front, which is fine. But I want to be certain I won't rub the fenders. Thanks.

I think you are good to go.
Slightly rubbing at wheel opening molding on dips if anything.
Or you can go with 20x8.5 +25, 20x9.5 +25 that give you more flexibility in tires.

I think the owner of this sc with ame ax is a member here.

thanks for the info. i was planning on reusing the two tires that weren't damaged in the wreck. they're almost new, so i'd be wasting about $500 if i didn't. the sizes are 235/35/20 front, 275/30/20 rear. would those work with a +20 offset? or should i go with +25?

As you know, tires of the same size from different brands may not have the exact same specs.

For your new setup, I can tell you for sure based on my actual experience (245/35, 275/30) that falken 451 won't rub, bridgestone 960as and continental dws would rub slightly at the plastic fender trim, not fender.
235 should give you a bit more clearance than 245 in the front.

In your case, it is easy to figure that out by you since you still have your old wheels.
Rim width, diameter, ride height and tires remain the same except the offset.

If you add 15mm spacers all around, what would happen?
How about 10mm spacers?
If 15mm seems fine, go with 8.5"/9.5" +20.
If not, 8.5"/9.5" +25 will do the job.

Good point. The hard part is my wheels are at the body shop and my car is at Lexus. It's going to be about 3 weeks until it's done. I'll probably just go with +25 for more flexibility. It's less than 1/4 inch difference anyway.

It really depends on what your goal is.
You have an option for fine tuning the fitment of your new wheels to your most liking.

Some vipcar guys are willing to dial in more negative camber only to squeeze out a few more millimeters for fitment.

I have made a nice little fitment table, but no one here finds it useful unfortunately.
Let me demostrate how to use it here.

According to that seller, the rim specs are
F: 19x8.5 +35
R: 19x9.5 +45

Now look at what the table says

F: 8.5" +18 to +45
R: 9.5" +18 to +45

Since the offsets are within the range, the rims will fit your sc.

Now check the wheel fitment

F: +45 - (+35) + (+6) = 16 mm
R: +45 - (+45) + (+18) = 18 mm

The wheel fitment would look like adding 16 mm spacers to your front oem wheels and 18 mm spacers to the rear.

Hey guys,

I've picked up some wheels which will be going on my '02 next spring. I've done my research and calculations on sizes, but there's one variable I'd like to double check with the pro's, tire size/brand. I don't have much experience with different brands of tires, so I'm hoping someone that does can help me choose the proper one, saving me have to try multiple tires, or modify my fenders.

FRONT 20x9.5+25

REAR 20x10.5+25

I'm not too concerned about the front, I think I should be able to get away with a 235/35/20 of any brand, maybe even a 245/35. It's the rear that's cutting it close. Can anyone say that a certain tire in 265/30/20 will work for sure on the rear? Perhaps I'll have to go with a 255/30?

I see that aquanuke is running a 275/30 on a 10.5+27, but he rubs. I'd like to avoid rubbing if at all possible, and I'd like to not have to remove the inner fender strip.

I should add that the car has coilovers, and will be low enough to tuck a little tire most likely.

Any help would be appreciated

Wow, thank you so much for sharing all those pics! And sorry for the late reply.

So seems like that car with the ISF wheels have a bunch of tasteful mods! I like his preference, all OEM parts!!

It is interesting too, so LS460's calipers. And I am guessing the new rotor's size are the same as OEM LS460. But then the rotor's bolt patten is 5x114.3 instead of the OEM 5x120 of the LS460. So the rotor must be custom made specifically for this conversion! Very nice!
