Default DOH! -- Problem with Hardtop

Hopefully no one else has done this....but I would appreciate any constructive advice that you have:

It seems that if you hit the trunk release button while the top is in motion the entire unit freezes in place. I contacted Lexus and they said that it is designed this way specifically and that it takes a couple of hours for them to reset every motor running the hardtop.

Does anyone know if there is anything that I can to do fix this or am I at the mercy of Lexus on this one (at an outrageous labor rate).

Thanks!

I think your at thier mercy. Even if there was something that you could try, are you willing to take teh chance that something could go horribly wrong? Gotta imaggine MN is one of those places you don't want to spend the winter topless.

I believe the instructions are in the manual...it has something to do with pulling those cables on the side (top) inside the trunk.

good luck!

You need to close the trunk. I did this before... just quickly and firmly push on the portion of the trunk that you would normally push on to close the trunk (just below the "L", or on the spoiler). That should latch the trunk closed, and allow you to operate the roof again. If it enters an error mode, follow the intstructions in the user manual to manually operate the roof.

It's ridiculous to think you need a dealer for that. What if it happens on the road? It freezes to protect the system. And accident? What was your left hand doing down there? Admit it; you were curious about what happen <he he> Now we all know. And yes, I was curious about that too.
Just close the trunk and it should resume operation. Disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes would be my next step. The worst scenario is to close it manually (described in the manual), which should reset everything. If not, I'd try the battery trick one more time before heading for the dealer.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
