1. Regular ML System
2. XM radio
3. DVD changer
I dont smoke, so ashtray is used for the switches and dollar bills...

This is roughly what you'll see from the driver's seat (although if you tilt your head ever so slightly you can read the text on the screen)... I use the remote control, since the way I set it up the mirror hides the last few buttons on the actual unit (if you move it over, you wont have that problem). Additionally, since I look at the text only when I dont know the name of a song, it's not really that big of a problem to actually have it mounted in such a weird place...
This mod taps directly into the ML System, therefore the sound quality is the same as using composite (L/R) wires. Overall, you get the crappy XM radio quality (man, I wish they would bump their sampling rate up a little). DVD player quality is indistinguishable to my ear from CD quality (and no, I am not tone deaf, and I have a lot of musical background).. No hiss, and no engine noise...
It's a little ghetto, but for 50-60 bucks (about 40 for the PIE adapter, about 10 for the switches and a about $1 for network cable - rest is shipping costs) to rig it... I can't complain... It took me a few hours to do it, but that included soldering the switches (and actually cascading them) and running all the wires. A one switch setup would be much much easier.
Hope this helps.
