Default climate control face plate

I tried a search for this and didn't find anything. sorry if its a repeat

i just got an '02 and i've noticed the faceplate on the climate control system has this purple film on it around the edges. its not very even and doesn't look right at all. i noticed it on some other cars also when i was test driving. any ideas what this is? it appears to be remnants of some sort of anti-glare film, but its distrubtion makes no sense.

My guess is that it is the protective film used to prevent scratches during shipping of the vehicle. The dealer should have removed it during prep. Just peel away.

I own a 2002 SC430 and I noticed a similar problem on the glass that covers the climate control and trip computer information station. In my case it turned out that the glass was defective and it was replaced by the Lexus dealer at no cost.

Good luck!
