Update on new wheels: I noticed vibration appear on front left between 60-65 mph. Smooth below and above that speed.
Cheers!
So impressed you could tell it was front left rather than just front. How did you know it was the left side ? I can only tell which side after a road force balance read out tells me road force on each individual wheel.
No claim to any superpowers and completely unscientific. It just felt like left side. I replaced all rings before road testing, so no real validation of source. Just happy it was an inexpensive fix.
Well now my old SC just gave me an excuse to spend a little more money - noticed one of the corner marker lights has failed - 100% reasonable for a 20 year old car. Order placed with SC430mods for a smoked set ....
For the thread that taught me what corner lights are ( I know them as markers ), I got my corner lights from SC430mods installed over the last two days. The SC430 mods install video is very good and tells you all you need to know. Here were my three challenges for anyone who tries this yourself.
1) Stubby Phillips head screw driver - absolutely essential - you cannot do it without. I overpaid Advance Auto at $21 for a set but I wanted to get going on this quickly so I did not bother to do online ordering. Upside is I have a screw driver that can get at the little screws right up against our fender liners which was always a problem for me in the past.
2) Attaching the wire harness to the new SC430mods housing - thought it did not matter which way you snap lock it in. Wrong. The tabs are unevenly sized such that if you do not align the tabs exactly with how they were in there originally, it will not fit. I nearly assumed the SC430mods housing was off by a bit and was about to take knife to the tab holders. But I am glad I tried flipping the orientation around and it snap locked in OK. Phew !
3) The front is easier to do than the rear. Fewer steps. My rear had the additional challenge that one side was different than the other. My right is just like in the video and like a normal SC. My left was repaired ages ago when I replaced the rear bumper cover. Excellent repair using an additional tab not in the video and not OEM ( even though the bolt used was an OEM bolt). Very secure, much tighter than the OEM tab and I was wrestling with it for 15 mins before it popped out. Sometimes you learn the work you paid for was actually done at a high standard only after you take it apart.
Happy with the corner marker lights. Additional upside - during the day, the smoked look on the lights up against my TAP exterior color is a near perfect match - like they're not even there.

Great job, OBP and Thanks for posting this 👍
Now you got us curious as to how the “markers” / corner lights look during the day… 🤔
I’m glad install went pretty much according to video — appreciate helpful tips on ensuring fit and challenges you had.
We’re still debating whether to get these or not, but we’re in no rush since the SC is/will be in hibernation for a minute…
Mandyfig! My first CL friend from so long ago ! Folks, Mandyfig and I have pics of our SCs parked together from more than 12 years ago on an Atlanta area suburban neighborhood street. When my SC was just a young un with less then 35k miles on the odo. But yknow, when I hit 100 mph on the highway this morning coming back from coffee ( will not tell you where ), riding on winter tires at that, this old 120k mile cruiser does not feel old at all.
All is well Mandyfig and hope same with you and your WGC down south.
