The telescoping function on my 2002 SC430 stopped working. Unfortunately it’s stuck all the way down making it uncomfortable to reach the steering wheel. A little research tells me that the steering column needs to be replaced and the cost is usually in excess of $1000. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? I’ve thought about trying to pull the wheel up closer but don’t know if this can be done without breaking something.

 

Disconnect your battery terminals for a half a minute, reconnect again and hopefully it'll be back to normal again.
