Have you pulled the back seat and looked at the fuel pump location?

The back seat was never removed but the fuel tank was brought down x2. This is a pretty big job, they have to remove the exhaust and axle, I think? The fuel pump was not suspected as a problem.

Does anyone recall a problem where the person couldn't start their car after they filled up with gas? It was some kind of check valve that was stuck. I think it was in the engine bay.

Anyone remember what part I am talking about? I wonder if these things are related...

In this post the following is mentioned...

Ok, ready for this? It took some effort on the part of the technicians at Lexus but the problem was that a rodent chewed through a hose located between the filler and fuel tank (I have the exact wording on the service sheet). It was a tough spot to get to so it was a pricey fix and I'm certain I way overpaid, but I needed the car right away and didn't have time to play around trying to figure it out.

FYI, regarding the code P0440, in the past some people have mentioned that after clearing the code it can takes hundreds of miles for it to come back. The reason is not because of time or miles driven, but rather the system in which the failed part is located does not kick in until the gas tank is around 1/4 full or below.

Any idea what part this person is referring to?

EV cables? What are you referring to? Where did they end up finding the leak?

That explains the half empty part of the problem.

And the rodent chewing the toughest hose to replace also makes sense. Murphy's Law says that's where they are going to chew, never in the easy to access middle of the wire.

For once, I'm glad we have a bunch of feral cats in the neighborhood! These f-ing chew-happy rodents are costing vehicle owners a heap of money!
