Default Buzz from map/dome light…

Since I bought my car last year, I’ve always heard a buzz noise when getting out of the car. Decided to dig into it a bit deeper today and noticed that if the switch is on door and you open the door, when the lights turn on, there is a buzz for a second. Then it’s gone. Played around further and basically any time the dome lights come on or off automatically rather than via the manual buttons, there is a short buzz that 100% emanates from the dome light fixture itself. If the switch is at off, silence getting in and out.

Has anyone else experienced and / or resolved this? Going to change the bulbs tomorrow although I highly doubt it’s the bulbs.

Just so you know that someone is listening, I can say that without a doubt, I personally have not heard of this issue before. The thing that is bugging me is the fact that it only does it in the automatic mode. It could be a bad solder joint I guess. They used really crappy parts for that map light assembly that don't accept solder very well. If your new bulb doesn't fix it, come on back and I'll pull the schematics to see just what that entire circuit is all about.

Just to close the loop on this, should anyone have a similar issue in the future, I ended up getting a replacement map light on eBay. Swapped it with mine and the buzz is gone. I can only assume my map light had an electrical issue. Toughest part was finding a used map light that hadn’t been trashed cosmetically by the dismantler not knowing how to get the lenses off.

Yeah, it wasn’t high on my list of things to fix either. I just switched it to the off position since I don’t drive this car at night often. Prices vary dramatically on eBay but when I saw a clean map light for $40, I figured I’d give it a shot, half expecting the new one to buzz also.
