Default FS: Yakima Roof Rack (Towers, Clips, Snowboard Rack, etc...)

I pieced together a roof rack for my SC300 beginning snow season. Season's over and I plan on having an suv by next season so there won't be a purpose for this rack anymore.

Selling everything in picture: Y Towers w/ Y clips for SC300/400 (predecessor of Q Clips), rubber padding, yakima poles, yakima end caps, sfs locks & keys for both the towers and the snow/ski rack, plain fairing, Yakima snow/ski rack fits 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards. Comes with 2 keys.

Selling for 300 including everything listed. Good condition I painted the clips w/ chassis paint and rust preventer bc some metal was showing and it was ugly, current condition is in the pic. Pick up in Norwalk, CA 90650. Maybe ship if buyer pays for shipping. Text me, for faster response 562fouronetwo1577 can only answer calls on weekends

Still available? Did they dent the roof at all?

I'd be more worried about what they did to the weatherstrip. The clips should be pulling on a solid surface. They'll dig into paint over time. Clipping to rubber is begging to have the rack fly off at highway speeds, IMO.

Yes still available, and nope no dents. Although there are some scratches on where my door made contact with the clips but I could've easily avoided that if I put some sort of protection like vinyl or something. I put electric tape but it wasn't much effort on my part. I was too excited to go snowboarding. And my weather stripping is fine no tears, I'll check again later. Under the weather strip there is something solid it hooks on to. I've driven it from Norwalk, CA to Big Bear, CA about 70-80 miles away no problem on the highway going 60-80mph and still drove with the rack on everywhere no problem. I thought about the same thing with it flying off but once I mounted it it was pretty solid. Had it on from December til February daily so I mean I must have done something right if it didn't fly off this whole time hahah. Feel free to come check it out and test fit it too if you're local. I'll update with my weather strip and doors and roof pics later when I get the chance to take pictures.

Is there enough room to slide the towers in on the crossbars without hitting the moonroof? That would give the clamps the space they need to pull against the roof line instead of the weatherstrip. Lots of things survive for awhile without being safe long term.

I realize we're getting away from the FS topic, but it could be useful info for whoever buys it. I've got a Yak rack sitting in the garage from my old 4-dr. I've thought about installing it on the SC but haven't decided how I feel about the short distance between towers on a 2-dr. I wouldn't put a bike up there without properly securing it, at any rate.

there's plenty of room ! I had to make a couple adjustments bc the fairing was fairly huge so it would either get in the way of my snowboard or the fairing would end up blocking some of my windshield. Bottom line is yes hahah. Mount it, increases the function of the car disregarding the fact that we have little of room to our trunk.

Here's a pic of my weather strip and my roof btw. excuse the dirtiness
