Default Coolant change help

Hello everyone I’m new to the sc300 world and am looking for help , so today I decided to change my coolant and so here are the steps I did and see if I missed something ?
1. Went under the car to drain from the pea hole
2. Let all the coolant run out
3. Made sure reservoir was empty and radiator
4. used 3 3.87L distilled water jugs to flush system
now this is we’re I got my first problem in the manual it says that the sc300 takes 10.87L (making a guess with the .87 atm since it’s very late and in bed ) but I hardly used 2 , my car only seemed to fills with one and a half of those 3 jugs , I shook the car many times (even turned it on a bit) and massage the tubes to make sure all air was out but still only wanted to take those jugs so I said (fk it fine) and took a drive , temperature was good and didn’t seem off at all I decided to drive a bit harder and everything seemed good
5. Got home and waited for car temp to go down
6. once cooled I drained from the pea hole
7.tightened it up and started filling with coolant
at this point it did the same thing with my water jugs , only took one and a half again, I started poring the coolant into the radiator itself ( I started thinking that maybe Lexus was wrong lol) but no how could they be right? I mean I did everything even seeked help with the automotive god Chris fix and still nothing , so I said (fk it) again and just let it be (I also did everything over again like what I did with the water btw) and decided to drive , at this point I drove the same way I did when I had water and when I started the drive it was great but when I was going back I had a very bad time , the coolant shot out of my coolant reservoir and blew the cap off ( luckily it was still in the engine bay) I saw coolant shoot all over the place and now I’m stuck , is there air in my system still ? Was it maybe just the cap was loose ? I heard very loud bubbling coming from the reservoir , much louder then when I had the water , did I do something wrong ?

So when you're filling coolant up, you need to burp your radiator of air bubbles; which is extremely important on 2jz engines which like to trap air in the system (especially heater cores). Pretty sure when I do my coolant flushes I use 2 gallons of distilled water, and 1 gallon of toyota red concentrate.

You will want a Lisle#24680 spill-free funnel that will replace your radiator cap and allow you to raise the coolant level above your motor. Park it on a slight incline (like a driveway entrance); keep the funnel filled 1/4-1/2 full and start the car and allow it to idle and start to warm up; turn your heater on full blast. You need to do this until the temperature of the car reaches the normal operating temperature so the thermostat will open and allow coolant to cycle throughout the engine/heater core. You can give it little rev's every once in a while as the vibrations from the motor will help dislodge air bubbles.

When your car is warmed up and no more air bubbles are coming out of the raised funnel, you use the stopper in the funnel to plug the hole; remove it from your radiator and drain it into one of the containers; then put your normal radiator cap back on. Go for a test drive and see if your heater gets hot; if it doesn't, you most likely still have air in your system, you can redo this process 1-2x as needed to fully bleed the air bubbles out. Also my 3 gallons turns to ~ 11.35 liters; but that is for a system that has been fully drained.

The bubbling you heard is because the air inside creates super-heated pockets and causes the coolant/water to boil. You will definitely want to bleed the air out of the system before driving it.

I had a similar prob with mine. I jacked the car up on the drivers side 10-15 degrees and used the Lisle funnel type fill that fits over the radiator cap and lets the air bubble out, and then follow all instructions for burping, squeezing the hoses to get the air out. Run for 20 mins, Lower car, re squeez hoses, raise RPM a few times. watch for more bubbles, none, seal funnel and put rad cap on. Worked for me, keeps temp well.
