The car is under my parents name and I'm secondary for AAA and no accidents. They tell me it's $1200 a year for a 92 SC300 5spd, however they said it would be $400 if I wasn't enlisted. They also told me the insurance depends on the year, because the value drops as the car gets older.

I have a '92 SC300 with full coverage ($250 deductable for comprehensive and collision) and pay $88 a month. I have a clean record and recieve a good student discount and a safety program discount (because I watched a safety video and answered a few questions). I am 23 years old and have State Farm.

I am in the military as well, and currently have USAA on my 1996 SC300. I have complete and full total utter coverage (since I am financing the car still).

At 23 years of age, no tickets in last three years, with USAA,
I pay 697 every six months.

So look to pay more than that with your tickets. USAA rocks, by the way.

Shawn

USAA is the way to go. I'm an agent, and I can't beat their rates with what I have (Progressive, Travelers). Believe me, I've tried. I went from a Prelude to an SC as well, and the rates were marginally better.

word to that.

rushgator...the rates are better on the SC than the prelude??? thats what i like to hear. of course my prelude is a '91, what year was yours. im sure the newer preludes are a bit more than the 3rd gens. but it sounds like an SC will prolly be the same or a bit cheaper then my lude. i asked a guy one time how his insurance was and he said his SC is cheaper than the 4 door v6 accord he had. oh well, hopefully i can work sumthing out. im just tired of this wrong-wheel drive crap, its time for some rear wheel drive action.

My 'lude was a 90, and when I say "marginally better" I mean the difference was only about $100. On the bodily injury section of coverage is where the biggest diff in premium was. They must figure that the SC is a safer car than the Honda, and therefore you and your occupants have a less likely chance of injury. Also, I don't know about your 'lude, but mine did not have airbags or ABS, and insurance companies discount for those items. Also, the 3rd gen 'ludes did not have any kind of factory security system, which the Lex has. Back in '99 my Dad sold his 95 Accord EX and got a '99 BMW 323i, and his insurance was about 20-30 bucks cheaper.

My old 'lude, now sold & enjoying college life again:
