I've said it before, I'm of the opinion that no US-market SC300/400 came with the cabin filter. Unless someone bought one new that had it (the only way to account for a PO having put one in), I stand by that statement... I've looked at multiple '98-00 cars that did not have one, and I'd say it's highly unlikely that they each had the original filter taken out but not replaced, seeing as how most owners don't even know the slot is there.

When you order a filter, from Toyota or Denso, you get 2 pieces. It's a modular cabin air filter.

T2D2 may be right. I am the second owner of my SC and while it did come with a cabin air filter, I'm thinking the techs might have installed it because it was one of the things listed on the delivery PO. I think cabin filters were more common in different regions. Or it may have just been a dealer to dealer thing, just like how some things still are today.

My 1995 baltic blue did not have filters, and neither did my 93 GS300.

Yeah, that would be an oddly specific thing to list if they hadn't added it themselves.

awesome info.. the ones that are $5 are on summit racing but they place the order from the supplier after you place your order.
