New Member saying hello
Just wanted to say hello to everyone as a new member. I bought a 96 sc400 last year and have been pleased so far. I did have to replace the power steering pump and two high pressure hoses (1000.00) and also replaced the transmission fluid filter (187.00). Aside from that really happy with the car. The UZ v8 is such a pleasure to drive and it sounds so good. 191K miles and it doesn't burn a drop of oil. Amazing engine.
Welcome lexi96400!
We're glad to have you here and congratulations on the SC400! The high pressure PS hoses as you've found can be a bit expensive if buying a new OEM assembly (alternatively you'd get your original hose assembly rebuilt by a local high pressure and/or hydraulic hose business).
The SC400 has the same robust V8 driveline that come in the LS400 models. As with any of these older SC's there will be some repair every so often in addition to the normal maintenance schedule but on the whole they are very reliable and well built cars. 191k is still pretty young for a well kept 1UZ-FE engine
