yes all pearl white isnt exactly white..hence the "pearl" and im sure i might gotten lightly faded too in its yrs. if you get a 99-00 pearl white..dont think you should worry it being white..maybe you need a white paint job, instead of pearl...

Where would you check if its diamond pearl or golden pearl?

If it's the original paint, then the year and paint code (usually in the door jamb) would be the best indicator.

This one is easy, Golden Pearl was never offered concurrently alongside DWP. It was only available on 99-00 models. All model years prior to that were dwp. So if you have any year SC that isn't 99-00, it's dwp unless it was resprayed. Also, the pictures above don't capture the differences well. You'd have to park a 98 or older next to a 99-00 to really see the difference. DWP has a bluish tone whereas the GP has a goldish tone to it.

I have a 1992, pearl white. It isn't exactly pure refrigerator/contractor truck's white. Some angles it will look pure white, but when the sun hits it its more of a creamy white, the pearl effect is pretty pronounced on these cars, I think it looks awesome. The only white car other than mine I've ever seen with this much depth in the paint was my boss's old 1961 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. It was the factory color, not a pearl, but more of an off white/cream sort of color, brown leather/burled walnut inside. Stunning car, whoever did the bodywork/paint on that car is a god lol.

+1 After looking at my paint code i found out mine is Golden Pearl though i didnt know about the year difference, mine is a 99. And recently i parked next to another pre 97 white SC and the difference was there. Its very subtle but its there. The Diamond is a colder white pearl as opposed to the Golden being a warmer white pearl.

Good information all around! Wasn't aware of the different pearl whites. Looking forward to picking up my SC400 DWP on Friday. Original paint, garaged in Cali for its entire life. Barely any weathering on paint and no rust on chassis.
