Default SC400question before purchase

8k for a 92 with 76k miles.
This is what i got from salesman

"There is an airbag light that is on and also the power mirror switches are in operable. We are selling the vehicle in its as is condition those are the only two things that are wrong with the vehicle"

Looks great, seats looks like there's new seat covers, abnormal new looking.
And after market radio kit installed...
I'm out of state so considering delivery to Florida also, what's a good price?

The mileage is the only thing separating that from a $2000 car. Is that worth 4x the cost to you, plus delivery? I would think Florida has tons of SCs to choose from. 1992 is by far the most common year, so it's never going to have rarity going for it to add value to the low miles.

To directly answer the question, if the dealer isn't addressing the electrical problems, it's worth at best half of what they're asking.

Since you are in FL, maybe look into an imported Soarer since you are already considering spending 8k on an SC. Not sure on the going prices of Soarers though, but may be worthwhile even if you have to spend more since you plan keeping it for awhile.

Just be patient i paided 3k for my 95 with 95,000 miles in pretty good shape i found power steering leak and oil leak and got the guy down from 5k to 3k. 100 powersteering line and 30 dollar cam seals and i still have the same motor on 21 psi of boost now like 5 years and 75000 miles later .

Mirror controls not functioning is somewhat common due to a failed mirror control ECU.

8k for a 92 is to high let it sit cause that Sc isn’t going anywhere. Be patient the salesman will drop the price after u contact the dealer in a few months, with a much lower price.

Ok another one im looking at
dude says "there's an oil leak, don't know where it's coming from and the speedometer is inaccurate and burnt out needles"

The needles i know about, the speedometer not accurate?? Wife says use Waze hahaha
radio doesn't play and passenger door handle needs replacing.
But the oil leak? Could be simple or a big job.

93sc4 141k miles on it.
asking 3600

That's code for, they've done absolutely nothing to fix the problems. You can find dirt cheap SCs with that characteristic. What's the point of a below average mileage car for a premium if it's got all the common problems and no maintenance?

If that car is at a used car dealership, it's illegal for them to sell the car with the airbag light on. It's a federal crime. Dealers can buy cars with airbag lights on from customers but are forbidden from selling them until the fault is fixed
