Help.

Sorry, I know I should use the search function but I really want to see a pix first....

I was going to apply some black silicone on my headlight assemblies to prevent moisture from getting in again but I do not know the exact location or how much silicone I should apply to do a good job.

if possible, could anyone please take a pix of your headlight assembly from under the hood and perhaps point out where I should apply the silicone and how much would be appropriate for this job?

Thanks.

M3,

Here's how I did mine headlight seal job.

I had to remove the headlights from the car and seal or make a bead of silicone around the whole entire headlight assembly. To make sure I made a proper seal, I went over it again with a second bead of silicon. I've never had a problem with moisture in my headlights previously before doing the black housing headlamp project. After the project, with the silicon applied, so far so good. Here's what mine looked like when I was done. It looks ghetto in my opinion but it works.

when I blacked out my housings I had a lot of trouble with one. I pulled it apart 3 times becuase it kept getting moisture in it. So finnaly I cleaned out all the old sealant and used aquarium selant and its been good so far.

It'll look cleaner if you use clear silicone. I used the same method as SC400Dude & ran my finger along to ensure it was sealing every crevice.

It would definetly look cleaner if I had used clear silicon. Since this was only experimental, I used what I only had in the shop. I will take your advice about the clear stuff when my new headlights arrive.

Thanks SilverBolt

Thanks a lot for your help guys!

I was thinking of using black silicone since it blends in with the color of the headlight's backhousing, what do you all think?

SC400Dude: Nice M3! I wish I had one like yours! May I suggest: www.activeautowerke.com ?
