Thought this was too useful to go undocumented, and I didn't see anyone else solve this problem using this solution. Here is how to swap to a celica steering wheel while keeping the stock SC400 cruise control harness, no wire cutting involved. Simply trim the plastic on the cruise control stock just enough to allow it to slide in mounting position. Here is a side by side of a modified vs unmodified.
