I'm leaking oil.. any tips please? THANKS!
 

I'm leaking oil and its accumulating between the transmission and the engine oil pan... thinking it is the main rear seal that everyone is talking about.... is this rear seal an engine seal or a transmission seal?

Questions:

1) what other parts should I change while the mechanic is changing the rear seal? (transmission mounts? engine mounts? etc... part #?s... )

2) anybody recommend any local mechanics in SF bay area?

3) anyone have lexus part #'s for these parts so I can go to my dealer and buy them?

Appears to be the rear main oil seal. The seal itself is $18 from Lexus, buit the tranny has to be dropped to replace it. If you're going to get it done, pick up a TC and have them install it at the same time!!!!

If I were you I would consider getting my engine steam cleaned, Not only does it make it look good, it makes it real easy to find an oil leak. But from the looks of it, it would appear to be a rear main seal. Do you know the last time it was changed, if ever? and definately if you do drop the tranny might as well get the dragon TC, its the best mod for the sc400 there is.

What is the mileage in the vehicle?

You might consider changing the front/rear transmission seals as well.

Where in California do you live in, If you live in LA I can recommend a few mechanics that can do this job for you for about $200-250. I had the same problem on my 95' and my mechanic replaced my rear main seal and everything went back to normal. So PM me and I will give you the name and # of my mechanic.

I have a similar problem there, but also in the rear at the back of the differential it looks the same, wondering if anyone had any ideas on labor for this, or any mechanics in the de,nj,pa area.

Guess I should have looked the car over before I bought it. (My bad)
