SC 400 yes?
Hello Members, I have been looking at Lexus LS 400 and SC 400 for a while now a friend of mine got me hooked.
im looking at an SC400 low miles 55K! good shape not my favorite color, but I can live with it. Clean car fax. Hopes I could get some feed back from the folks that know.
thanks so much, Lexus Hopeful!

just not my first choice, would prefer White. I'm in the mid west I know pricing varies on location he asking $5500. I know value is what you put on it, with that said in general is that in the bounds of this year and mileage?

Thanks for the reply CWolf, I thought 55k was really low for a 92. I have not seen the car in person yet. The car fax said it had been in the Lexus dealer for it 50K service replaced tires battery trans flush oil change. He replaced the wheels is that a detractor?

I don't think so. I'd still drive it around and make sure the suspension is good. there are really three reasons why the wheels would be replaced one would be damage from hitting something, hard. Two would be curb rash, and three would be because they wanted different wheels

Update: I am going to look at this car tomorrow. I spoke with the owner today he said there are two issues with the car.
one the antenna does not work. Two the speedometer does not work, the odometer does?
Any ideas as to the cost for this repair or how to DIY.

if those are the only 2 issues with the car then buy with confidence. First thing i did when i got my car was unplug the power from the antenna because that thing was hell annoying whirring up and down every time i started the car. The little amount of time i spent actually listening to radio before i setup bluetooth in the car i never had bad signal with the antenna down so i wouldnt worry about that. The cluster being messed up is a VERY common problem on early year SCs and lexus in general. There is a vendor on the forums that repairs them. Cant remember the name but you would remove your cluster and ship it to him, he would repair it and restore or change the lighting based on your preference. Last time i checked the prices started at $100+shipping but that was a while ago so you should double check that but i wouldnt expect it to be too different.
Alot of people swap rims on these cars, myself included but the fact that the guy went with another set of 16s is somewhat strange. Most people do 17 or 18. If there was any major damage to any of the suspension parts you should be able to tell by putting the car up on a lift. Id suggest finding a mechanic around the area where hes selling the car and have them do a presale inspection. Last time i bought a car it cost me $70 for the inspection. another quick tip to see if the car might have been in an accident but wasnt reported is to look at panel gaps to make sure they are straight and toyota stamps on all the windows. If there is a window that doesnt have a toyota badge on it, then it was likely replaced and you can ask him why.
Other than that i think you found a good deal. Pricing is pretty fair like others have said. its not a steal but it doesnt look like youre being screwed over either. I always try to haggle though so id try to use the cluster and antenna and anything else you find to try to bring down the price a bit but thats up to you
