SC/rx300 Steering wheel. Swap airbag question
 

I have a question about the air bag on my stock 99 SC 400 being able to fit a 2001 rx 300 wood. grain steering wheel
{"Thinking Hard about doing the swap"} but the rx 300 wheel doesn't have the airbag with it
it looks similar but I cant tell based on pictures
I have read a bunch of threads on this subject ,but have not got a real answer
any help is much appreciated

The 01 RX300 wheel is a direct bolt on to your car, just need the single stage airbag to go with it.
I have one installed my 99 SC400.

Ive seen photos of the SC400 airbag fitting the RX steering wheels but it doesnt look very good. The gaps around the airbag are uneven, the color doesnt match well and it almost looks like its sitting slightly tilted. I suggest getting the airbag to go with it. I dont know if the 01 RX airbag is single stage or not but i can tell you that my SC430 steering wheel and airbag was a direct plug in for my 99 SC400. I just had to swap over the cruise control because the SC430 cruise control is wired with the side buttons in mind and it doesnt work with our cars. The 99-00 SC400/300 airbag connector is actually different from the earlier models so the adapter cable that most people need for the swap you probably wont need. Hope this helps.

The Rx wheel (if it's the model i am thinking of which is the one in the pic above) airbag is single stage and should connect up to the 99-00 SC without an adapter harness. I find a lot of those steering wheels on eBay without the airbag (deployed in wrecks).

In regards to if you can use your existing SC airbag in the Rx wheel, i am not sure and haven't seen anyone try.

What kind of seats do you have in your SC? They look awesome.

Seats are out of a 2012 Hyundai Genesis RSEC coupe, easy install. Driver side is 4 way powered, pass. side is manual. They are more supportive and lighter than the OE SC seats. I love them.

Not sure about the pic of the 2001 RX wheel you have there. See pic of my 2001 RX wheel and air bag. I have an extra black 01 wheel and airbag in wheel in my storage unit, have to locate it.

This is the 01 RX wheel I have in my 01 GS300. You can also look for airbags from 01 to 05 GS they are the same as the RX300 as long they are single stage. You can tell the difference by the airbag plugs on the back, single stage has 1 plug and of course 2 stage has 2 plug. I installed the RX wheel and reused my airbag.

Bumping this because there is a nice (complete with airbag) RX300 black leather and woodgrain steering wheel on eBay right now for a good price of $245 shipped, in case anyone was looking for an upgrade.

I know this is old thread but can anyone tell me what is the 01 RX300 airbag screw sizes ? Torx ? mm ?

They're all T30 or T35, can't remember which off the top of my head, but I think it's T30.

Looks like my 02 Celica steering wheel minus the wood trim and the L Sticker in the middle...

The Celica wheel is smaller diameter. But yeah, other than the wood and the size and the emblem, they both are round and have three spokes. :)

sorry to bring up an old post. So I was looking at this 2001 RX300 steering wheel. Would this 100% be a direct fit for my 1999 sc300? and would that be a single stage airbag or dual? Thanks in advance!
