Default Manual steering column from supra

Anyone have a clue if a mk4 or mk3 (or any car) manual steering column will fit an sc. Id like to have the more reliable manual column and it weighs less.my telescope doesnt work.

I would think the best bet would be one from a mk4 but I don't know.
Also you can fix the telescope pretty easily, there is a DIY thread on here if you do a search.

Yeah, my telescoping column was broken on mine also, took about 15-30 minutes to fix it and cost me next to nothing to do it. As was said by Ali, there is a thread here that shows exactly what to do to fix it, its literally a gear that needs a spacer added behind it.

Wow, thanks for that i thought the quick fix was for the up and down. If by some way i come across a mk4 column ill try it out. Manual column from a soarer might work

I realize this is an old thread but in case anyone else asking this question finds this thread and needs an answer... I don't know about swapping over the MKIV steering column but as for the 91-00 Z30 Soarer... yes you can use a manual tilt & telescope Soarer steering column from one of those and its matching column cover. They are exactly the same parts for both the LHD and RHD cars.

What you will need to do this are new snap-off security bolts for your original ignition key tumbler assembly to swap over (you have to use an extractor kit on the installed security bolts on both column tumblers to remove them). You will also need to swap over your USDM turn signal/lighting/wiper stalk main assembly including the USDM clock spring. You will need to de-pin from the USDM harness the wiring and switches that control the auto/motorized tilt and telescope functions. Then you also need to steal a little black plastic bezel from the Soarer switchgear assembly and swap that over to your USDM switchgear assembly.

From there the assembly and reinstallation is covered in the USDM SC300/400 TSRM. Your USDM steering column has to be removed exactly as is stated in the TSRM step by step. There isn't a short cut. It will be easier with the engine out of the car but with the engine in the car the oil filter may need to be temporarily removed for clearance to the steering shaft bolt in the engine bay.

This is the truncated/short explanation for whoever it may help.
