Default Petition to restart production of some 1993-2002 MKIV Supra parts

I just learned of this petition and put down my signature. I know firsthand how much of a problem this is for MKIV Supra owners and by extension many of us who use 2JZ-GTE's in our SC's, IS's and GS's. It may be a long shot but we should be paying attention to this. A few owners in this thread were able to make contact with higher ups at Toyota UK and did get some initial responses. It may be a long shot but the idea is to keep pressure on to make Toyota aware that there is a strong interest in at least some "heritage" parts for their iconic sportscar. There has been a lot of reference in this thread to Nissan's commitment to producing limited reproduction parts for the R32. R33, R34 and Z32 recently.

Even though our SC's are not the same car there are so many parts that do cross reference that if this ever did happen even on a very limited and specific scale it can only benefit us rather than not.

The thread is worth a read through. The aim is to keep the pressure on no matter what the initial corporate responses are. So far it has been working with only 8k+ people to date.

With Akio Toyoda having pushed for a new Supra to make production and have a rigorous development and shakedown phase using the classic MKIV as an initial benchmark there is reason to put stock in some of TMC's upper management (and their CEO) at least having enthusiasm for this idea and hearing it out to consider it in one form or another.

Signed. I think our community here is a special one, and we would all like more parts, especially possible heritage of possible TRD parts.

Edelbrock was asked a similar question decades ago ("why don't you make your old manifolds again?"). His answer: making only 1,000 means losing money.
Do you have 1,000 signatures w/r/t one specific part? I saw over 8,000 that want some part - maybe it's an ashtray? It could be 8,000 different parts.

IMHO if you can get strong backing for a single big piece (like a 2JZ-GTE non-VVTi head casting), and it sells the way you have to insist that it will, you may get more.
^^ I agree with this even though I am being optimistic after Nissan, Honda and Mazda have enacted limited reproduction parts for a few classic models (the R32 GT-R, gen1 Miata and some Honda model which I forgot at the moment). Cosmetic trim pieces inside and out are on may MKIV owner wishlists. I'm know I'm in the minority but I'd like to see EGR parts put back into limited production to keep these classics legally on the road.

The V160/161 more than likely won't happen but since Getrag is now owned by another company as of 2013 it either could be more of a nail in the coffin for the bad blood between Getrag and Toyota or it could hypothetically mean the only thing that would be in the way of that would be the business case and raw numbers only (which is not an insignificant uphill battle). What is interesting regarding the V160 is that the Type 233 6-speed transmission variants is that the majority of parts are still on offer from Nissan for the AWD version used for the Nissan R34 GT-R and from BMW for the RWD version used for the 850CSi V12 6-speed. Those contracts have long since ended between Nissan and Getrag and BMW and Getrag but the parts support is still available to both automakers. Just not so between Toyota and Getrag.

On the non-VVT-i 2JZ-GTE cylinder head you're referencing the part of that thread above where it almost went out of production and was given a new lease on life. I do wonder if that was the EGR or non-EGR version. Examples like those make me think the MKIV drivetrain has a better chance of continued OEM parts support than the chassis... but again... I do hope this goes somewhere even for limited support. Even the R32 GT-R is only getting limited, specific parts reproduced mostly for road legal and emissions inspection requirements.
