Default Fixed antenna options.

My 4' power antenna gave up the ghost.
Whats the best short fixed flexible antenna option?
Aftermarket? Or one from another newer car? (ebay)
Read about a Mazda model being used.
Also don't want to spend a ton of $$$ as its a weekend / daily driver.
Looking for good reception and easy installation. .
Is there a go-to common option?
Thanks!

Did the mast go, or the motor? If it's the earlier, a replacement isn't expensive.

I just got a roof mount one from a 2005 LS430 and ordered the converter plug on eBay for $10. Waiting to get my car back from paint to test it out. My mast is broken so I retracted it all the way down and unplug the power harness. I should have had it filled when I took it in for paint.

The Acura MDX one is a popular mod for the SC.

We have had a lot of threads on this, including a huge one that i suspect is in the faq sticky on top of the forum, so you should have plenty of info and options if you take a look.

Thanks! Yes I have looked at them Several options have been used over the years.
Was just asking if there was a "best" way to go. After years of folks trying different ones.

Thanks.

The motor is probably OK, while the flexible plastic strip that pulls the mast up/down is broken.
If you don't want to fool with replacing the mast, don't throw it away! Offer it for sale in the classifieds.

Still asking, as a lot of the photos are gone now from the older antenna threads. (Photo bucket)
And several of the posts say " I went to a junk yard and got this one off a what ever car" Make model and year would be nice...
Have to think there is a year/ model car that works best. Just don't know what it is.
Also, several photos that I do see are at odd angles. Looking for one that looks right.
And functions. So maybe this could be the up dated antenna thread?

If it is an issue with Photobucket pics no longer showing up, try using the Chrome browser with the Photobucket fix add-on. That should fix the linking issue, but obviously won't fix an issue if the pic was removed from the PB account.

I think unless you pay photobucket now, photos do not show up at all. Mine dont anyway. I am using Chrome If that helps.
You do know they went to a paid subscription only to post a few months ago right? I am using Postimage.org these days....

You would need to add the Photobucket Hotlink Fix extension (or one of the multiple other extensions that do the same) to your Chrome browser, and the pics should show up after that.
