Brand new member, first SC
Hello all. I am brand new here and I just got on the bandwagon for the SC's. Got myself a 93 SC400. Not in the best shape, but i got it for a project! I was originally looking at the IS's, however when i saw the sc's body and shape...i was instantly attracted to it.
Anyways! I have already cleaned the engine bay, done valve cover gaskets, swapped the trans out (trans that came on car was missing 2nd gear). And now i gotta do 02 sensors (previous owner spliced the wires together for the sensors after the cats). The cats alone are torn up inside so im probably going to trash those and do straight pipe maybe?
However, downside is i cleaned my IACV..and followed the how to on testing it...it seems to work? Give it power and i feel something inside moving slightly..put it back on and now the car turns on and doesnt stay on. It DOES have low gas and prior to cleaning the IACV, it did run ...mostly.
Ill upload pics soon..if i remember to. Cars got 200k miles so i expected ghosts.
My todo list
tune up even tho the plugs look good
timing belt/pulleys..etc
alignment
LS400 brake (not super priority since the cars sitting)
replace vaccum lines/fuel filter
Anything else you all recommend?

I did that (ive read soooo much info here). The kid i bought the car from said it supposedly needed an IACV, tested the ohms...it was within spec. Hopefully the new 02 sensors help at least a little bit.

The IACV connectors tend to wear out and perhaps sag a bit from gravity. I had one that worked better when I zip tied it to the housing to keep good contact. Try wiggling yours and see if it behaves differently, in which case re-pinning the wires to a new connector would be a big help.

Thank you! And also thank you to the first dude who replied and told me to go through the stickies, doing that slowly. Fuel filter going on this week, since this car WILL be a swap out in the future i plan on doing the pump too and getting a bigger one...plus at 200k miles cant hurt.
