Default 99 SC300 Needs Appraisal !

Hey guys , I found myself a 99' SC300 @ 197k miles . It's my girlfriend's best friend's dad's car. lol . He's wants $3,000 for it and I already feel like its a good deal solely because the car is pretty unmolested, BUT i still want to know what you guys think . Anything else i should ask about? If 3k isnt fair, what should i offer?

Cons to my knowledge
- passenger side suspension needs work. ball-joint/sway bar links
- rear passenger quarter panel is welded, noticeable but not too bad
- running 2 different sets of tires on sc430 rims
- small rust on the trunk between the spoiler
- A/C not working.... pretty standard for sc's imo
- no record of maintenance besides from current owner saying that the guy he got it from "babied it and garaged it during winters"
-trunk wont open

PROS:
-Near mint interior, working climate control (no bleeding LCD), stereo works, windows roll, seats, has butterfly cup holder, only 1 small crack in the A pillar .
- aside from the welded quarter panel only small scratches that seem to only be on the clear coat, virtually no rust on the body
- headlights look brand new no yellow/condensation
- no sign of oil leak from valve cover gasket , front, and real seals.
- coveted 97+ body
- PS works/not leaking

could only get a handful of pics , was on limited time

2000 sounds better/more reasonable given the issues and mileage

If paints not bad and there's not a lot of needed body work I'd offer 2500 . As 99 are getting harder to fine due to limited production

I would wait for a better one and pay the extra. The cons and mileage doesn't warrant the asking price, IMO.

Price seems fair and in line, but with no maintenance history all depends on how much you willing to do/spend on it.

Agreed, how bad is the rear quarter panel damage? Is the unibody tweaked, ie are all the gaps on the trunk/door even on on that side? I know for an up north car that doesn't look too bad as far as the rust. Be sure to get it up in the air, the front subframe on these cars love to rot away before you see any rust on the body. I also noticed the heat shield for the exhaust manifold is missing, along with a bolt holding up that wiring harness on the cowl, and the cowl plastic is all warped/screwed up. Looks like somebody has been monkeying around carelessly under the hood IMO.

This car looks rather used up to me, definitely a project car, or if you just need cheap wheels you might get a couple good years of service out of it just driving it into the ground and not fixing crap when it breaks.

Honestly I'd up your budget to 5-6k and look for a nice southern car with no rust, no body damage, maintenance history and a better interior. That driver's seat has a couple rips and will look like crap in a few months/year's time.
