Why dont you need it anymore? Did you put in an aux? |
You don't want to shave it? Id leave it the way it its, any plug you put in there is going to look hideous if it's not an antenna.
but yeah there are no plugs. |
I'll be shaving mine using fiberglass inside and outside the hole. I'll be sure to document my process here.

What will happen when you want to sell it or trade the car in with antenna absent?

Metra 44-UA200 Universal On Glass Amplified AM/FM Antenna |
i just got power from the original antenna & stuck that same antenna up inside trunk lid. i left the factory antenna in place in the down position.

So would clipping it off work? or what would i have to do to get rid of it
The mast is hollow, so clipping it can allow water into the trunk. Is it stuck in the up position? If you do remove it, there are probably a few of us here who would like to take it off your hands. |
I was going to do this to my '92 because the antenna is stuck up and no one cares about radio any more because of aftermarket stereos being cheap and easy to install. The only way I could think of doing it right is having a body shop patch in a metal sheet and finishing it good or maybe using fiberglass but the texture of the fiberglass will look different than the texture of the steel fender to the trained eye no matter how good the finish job is. Personally I'd remove it and choke down the price of having a good body shop do it right. That's what I'm going to do at least.

Thanks for everyones help!!

When I was restoring/refinishing my SC400, I cut a piece of sheetmetal to size and welded it into the antenna hole. Then skim coated it body filler and called it a day.
I disliked the factory AM/FM antenna as well. I think it takes away from the clean lines of the car, so I 'shaved' it. You could potentially 3D print yourself a plug if you didn't want to do a whole ton of body work. |
