In terms of individual throttle bodies, you will need to set up a stand alone ecu. I've been researching itb's for the 1uzfe for a few months now, a lot of people have done it and one of the most tedious tasks is setting up a fuel rail kit to go with the throttle bodies.

if you have to ask those questions you are no where near ready for ITB's, it will require a lot of custom work and a standalone ecu.

you **cannot**(edit) bolt on the newer intake manifolds to the older models. the newer ones have an ACIS valve that is helpfull in torque down low. you can probably get away without a tune but there are probaly alot of little differences between the intakes that would need to addressed sensor/throttle body wise.

Yes sir, the vvti intakes have ACIS like the 2jzge does. I take back what I said earlier though, I thought you could bolt the intake manifold from the vvti onto the older non vvti head, but from some reading on the net it looks like they are not compatible. I guess you would have to swap the whole head and then deal with vvti or do something custom, whoops

still my favorite mod for the sc400 is the supercharger... but if money and project time is not a concern hands down single turbo 1uz is just pure sexy

I just saw a '98 SC400 posted for $3k, apparently in fairly good shape. That might be a cheaper way to get vvti, plus the 5-spd A/T as a bonus.
