Find someone with a Torsen for sale. They show up from time to time in the SC classifieds forum here. Somewhere around $1k should be out there to be had. I have one I just took out of a track car, but I am thinking of putting it in my daily driver SC so going to hold on to it. If you find one make sure you check the input flange before putting it in the car. I bought mine and I guess it came out of a Supra because the flange was slightly larger. I have no idea why Toyota did that. If you look closely you can tell, but for sure measure before you install. There is only like 3/16' difference bolt circle.

^^ Everything RXRodger said.

For a 1.5-Way there is the 1993-1998 Supra Turbo Automatic Torsen LSD as your most common (but hard to find) option. Gearing for an entire pumpkin is 3.769:1. ALWAYS make sure the seller will show a picture of the inside of the pumpkin to confirm that a Torsen is in there. This is common practice since the Torsen T-1's act like open diffs until they operate under load and for 1997-1998 Supra Turbo Automatics they were optional, not standard as with 1993-1996 Turbo Autos. Since all years of this differential look exactly the same from the outside it simply needs to be visually confirmed you aren't paying for the same external casing with 3.769:1 gears and an open diff.

Look on the CL SC300/400 classifieds, CL GS300/400 classifieds and SupraForums classifieds and be prepared to move FAST when you see one of these pop up for sale (and confirmed to have a Torsen).

They are good and reliable up to 500whp or so. After that a clutch-type LSD is recommended.

Another 1.5-Way LSD option that is available for our differential pumpkins is one model made by OS Giken: 1.5-Way, clutch type, very long service life (but not infinite since it's not a gear-type diff). I don't know the model type offhand but it is listed on their website. Cost is around $1,800 list just for the differential... not including the pumpkin or installation into a pumpkin.

There is also a very rare JDM-only Torsen T-2 LSD that was available on late model Soarers and some late model JDM Supra MKIV's. Also 1.5-Way but with some added preload to prevent any situation where the Torsen temporarily becomes and open diff when one wheel loses all road adhesion for a short period. Also more predictable in wet weather and at high horsepower levels. These were never sold in the USA and it is very rare to see one come up for sale. The original Torsen T-1's are far, far more common.

Welcome to the forums, chiefangel!
