Default battery drain

Ok, so I replaced the fuse (don't recall the number off the top of my head) that, amongst other things, powers the tilt steering column, climate control memory etc... Now I have a massive battery drain. Does anybody know what is all powered off this fuse or have a wiring diagram showing this section of the system? Or, better yet, if anybody else has had this problem and can give some places to look, that would be equally as awesome... Thanks!!!

Default battery drain

i rhink i can find a diagram, but first i would do the following from my actron meter manual;
1. turn ignition key and all accessories off. make sure trunk, hool and dome lights are all off.
2 insert black test lead into common test jack.
3. insert red test lead into A or mA test lead
4 disconnect positive battery terminal
5 connect red test lead from meter to positive battery terminal
6 connect black test lead to positive battery CABLE -- DO NOT start your car or you can damage the meter
7. put the meter on 10A DC or 200 mA position
8.write down the reading - if it is 1mA = ,001A or less there is no drain from the battery.
Higher than that will give you a clue as to what is drawing the power.

At this point the wiring diagram might tell you the amps of each component and where you can unplug them one at a time until the amp meter shows that the drain is gone. i guess you could put the meter on DC volts at 20V and get the voltage draw, but I'm not certain about this. Maybe someone else on the site knows if this will be ok for the meter and will actually show you something.
in the meantime i will check my bookmarks for a wiring diagram, but first of all (unless I missed it) what vehicle and year do you have?

I'll have to give that a try. Sounds easy enough, just need to figure out now the current path and which accessories need to be looked at

Default pulling fuses

i forgot to say the manual says to pull fuses one at a time till the flow of energy stops, but since everything is on one fuse that won't work. you will have to find the harness limb that goes to these items and start unplugging one at a time. Actually whatever has switches can be unplug at the switch. my husband sequoia has a mirror motor that work shut off and i unplug the switch to keep it from burning out the motor. I was afraid to pull the glass park out to see what was keeping the motor going cuz it so freaking expensive to replace. i had the motor stopped, but he went over a bump and it started up again.
Im pretty busy right now, but will look for that wiring diagram in my lexus "bookmarks" when i get a chance.

I forgot to mention that mine is a 95. Not sure if that makes any difference where the accessories are concerned though

Default wiring diagram tilt steering column

for tilt function starts at page 4018 to about 4024. this gives you ALL the information you will need. I tried to cut and paste from it but just get the characters on the left of the page upon pasting. tried to print just those pages but keep getting error message. so you may have to go to the website and download the manual or flip to the page in a pdf reader.
i think the "club" does not allow links to other sites, but i will put it here in case they co. this will much easier for you.

it comes up on the yahoo seach engine if you put in everybodyknows and the manual specs etc.

I less time consuming thing to do is locate the connectors to switch on the column and unplug it and check your meter. then move on to the other components. they seem to be all in the cabin under the dash (i think). you will have to read the manual to verify that and give you the color and type of the connector you are looking for. Good luck.
