Default Headlight wiring issues

Having issues fixing (reverse cluster****ing) wiring issues with the headlights. Im going to try and explain this as simple as possible because its a little... Well for lack of a better... ****ed.

DRLs never work. The only lights that react to the steering wheel stalk are the high beams. The headlights have been wired up to come on when the rear defrost button is pushed. Fuses all show power at the fuse block for drls, high beams and low beams with defrost button on, no power when defrost button is off.

Replaced some fuses, removed the wires jumped from the power wire on the headlight bulbs, leading to the drl fuse in the fusebox.

Not sure if this is related but there are two black wires leading from the bay into the cabin, into the harness underneath the steering column. One goes from the ST relay in the first box and the other from the wiring harness in front of the coil? Ignitor? In front of the DS valve cover. These are connected ,using butt connectors, to a Black/white wire and the other to a Black/yellow wire under neath the steering column.

Black wire goes to grey relay at right of pic
