Recommend me some door speakers that work with the factory radio.
So the woofer in the pass side door decided to blow out in my 1992 SC300.
Looking to replace it, but I'm still keeping the factory amp/headunit. Before the speaker blew this was one of the best sounding factory radios I've ever heard, especially impressive considering how junky factory systems were back in the 90's.
Anyways, not looking to break the bank here, thus why I'm not doing a rewire with a fancy double din headunit or anything crazy.
Can I get away with just replacing the woofer since the tweeter seems fine? I know factory systems can run some weird impedences with the speakers, thus I want to make sure whatever I go with works.
Also any tips on removing the door panel would be much appreciated. That looks like the real PITA part of this job. Any chance I could get lucky and just have to pop off the speaker grill???

Pioneer TS-G1040R or TS-G1044R (newer version and a bit better) are inexpensive, direct fit replacements. I'm sure there are others, but those are the two I've used. Don't bother replacing the separate tweeter if you don't need to.
The speaker grill is screwed in from the back side. Although, that aspect was so poorly reinforced, they're likely to be broken at the mounts, anyway.
Door panel ("card") removal isn't tough, but don't be surprised/dismayed to see lots of crumbling plastic. There are two screws at the front edge by the door jamb, one holding the inner lock handle (pry out the plastic cover behind the handle), two or three at the bottom edge (seems to vary by configuration), two up under the armrest/pull, and then a few plastic snap rivets at the front and back edges. Once you have all that removed, unclip the two cables at the back of the inner lock assembly to release the whole card.

BUMP!!! Any other speaker recommendations.
I'm also getting some annoying popping/humming in the pass side door speaker from my phone. I use the tape deck to hook up my phone that has rhaspody on it. It has always done this, even before the speaker blew, but it was tolerable with my old iphone(only first second or two on some songs), now its unbearable with my new Galaxy S6.
Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix the humming/popping? I'm assuming the phone signal is getting in through a stripped wire or something. No humming if I'm listening to the radio or a CD

I put this brand/rear speaker set in mine several years ago.
