Thinking about buying another SC
Hey all, it's been awhile since I've posted.
I was having issues with my old 1995 SC400 and really wanted to get into a new car so a couple months back I sold my Lexus to one of my ex employees for $700.
I purchased a 2009 Mustang GT Black/Black leather 5 speed (Pretending to live the dream of a perfect SC) and relocated from Texas to Minnesota. That $700 paid for my intake and tuner.
Anyways, since I will be garaging my Mustang for damn near half of the year up here I have begun looking for winter beaters, ofc started looking at AWD cars first, etc, then the idea of getting another SC sprung on me.
However I am not sure how smart this would be considering damn near every one I see that is relatively cheap is riddled with rust. (Only reason I would be looking for one ''cheap'' is because it would be my beater, with MAYBE some potential in the future for restoration.) I also know it is much smarter to just pay more for a better car, but I literally live 1 mile from work so I could ride the bus or walk if I want. I just figured it might be nice to enjoy some of the old spirit I had with the SC.
Any thoughts?

Not to try to turn you away from an sc, but there has to be many better choices for a winter beater. Anything awd or 4wd would be great, but even low front wheel drive cars with winter tires are surprisingly competent in the snow. I drive a Celica GTS year round without much trouble in the winter. My sc will be parked most or all of the winter though, it doesn't need the salt and I don't need to contend with rwd in the snow.
I was considering a 4wd Toyota 4runner for a winter beater at one point, if I was to choose one now that's still what I'd go with. They're tough, off road capable vehicles that are good for 300k miles in most cases. And you can find decent examples in my area for around $2k with 150k-200k miles, some even with manuals.
BTW, I'm from Michigan so our winters are similar to Minnesota's, I think it's just a bit warmer and snowier here.
