Just wanted to see how others have dealt with this issue. I get wind noise from the sunroof (not the rattle from the wind deflector discussed in other posts). The only way to fix this is to replace that seal that goes around the sunroof. However, Lexus does not sell this part - they only sell the whole sunroof assembly, which costs about $800! I also confirmed this with Carson Toyota today.

I'm not about to shell out $800 when all I need is a new piece of rubber. How have you guys gone about fixing this yourselves? My body shop thinks a piece of felt around the front might be enough to tighten up the seal. What do you guys suggest?

in my case, it wasnt the seal, but i WAS getting wind noise. i just needed to do a slight adjustment to my sunroof to line the seal up correctly. the sunroof dipped just SLIGHTLY at the front. almost not noticeable, but just enough to pass air.

yes, it was similar to the instructions in your manual on how to manually close it. but changed the instructions to losen the bolts that hold it in place. its on of those things you'll see "when you get in there".

there are shims to adjust in the sunroof(located on the sides of the sunroof)...but my sunroof is past the adjustment stage-i think. i can tell the rubber around the sunroof is worn now..and the sound of the loose sunroof is killing me over bumps. you can quiet it down if you close it and the shutter or tilt it but,there has to be another way...anyone find a solution other than replacing the whole damned assembly?

I adjusted my SC's roof when we got it to get rid of wind noise. The "adjustment plates" are just different thicknesses of metal plates. Add or remove/swap them to get the hieght right; drive, check noise, repeat as needed until it's Lexus quiet again. I seem to remember that the bolts and plates also allow you to slide teh roof forward and back very minor amounts. It may be enough to save you replacing the seals for now. HTH.

Edit: you have to pry off the plastic trim covers from inside the car at the edge of the glass panel to get to the bolts/shims.

I fixed the worn gasket by putting light gauge weed eater line (the smallest that Home Depot had) in between the two sections of rubber under the bottom lip of the gasket around the front and sides of the sunroof.

Pushed the line up in there, then sealed it with GE clear Silicone. Worked like a charm. Less than $20. No more wind noise from the roof.

Mine's fine on suburban roads in normal traffic, but once i get onto a highway at more than 70 km/h, you can hear wind noise. At 70-90, as long as the shutter closed, it's not that much of a concern, but once on the motorways at 110 km/h, it's loud even with the shutter closed
