Tranny problem...
Good evening SC fans. As some of you may know, I recently purchased a 1995 Lexus SC 400 as a project. From a cold start, the trans takes about 10 seconds to go into drive. What causes this? The advice is much appreciated.
Welcome to CL. Thanks for posting in the correct section but in the future do not start a new thread because no one answered your previous one. Just post in the old thread and it will come to the top.
I have merged your 2 threads, do not create a third one its called bumping just bump the old thread.
IT does not sound good for the transmission. I am guessing you are in Florida and it does not get super cold there as I understand, so maybe you need to change the trans fluid, or the trans is going bad. try giving it a little more time from when you start the car to when you shift in to gear otherwise it will likely get worse.
I would check the fluid does it look red or solid black? if its soild black I would change it out and don
t do the power flush but a drain/refill just to be on the safe side

Took advice given and changed fluid and filter. Tried additive called Muscle. It has run cooler, shifted better and gone from park to drive at least 5 seconds faster; especially when the engine is 5 minutes warm. Considering changing solenoids. Please advise. Will this improve performance or hasten demise?
