Default what are all these horns?

Are there multiple horns on the SC400?

Picture #1 is the left side of the open section in front of the radiator.

Picture #2 is the right side of the bumper opening. BTW, what's that sensor for in front of the horn? Is it measuring air speed or temperature?

Picture #3 is just behind the battery and main fuse box. I'm not actually sure that one's a horn, but it looks horn-like.

No offense, but this thread just made me laugh. Anyways, the first 2 horns are your horns for honking. Horns always come in pair for low and high frequency. The sensor is your front impact sensors for your airbags. The last horn is for the alarm.

I never promised all my questions would be good ones.

It's been ten years since I worked on a car horn, but now that you mention it, I do remember replacing the pair of them... And I wondered about the alarm, but I figured that would use the regular horn. Is it a separate one to allow more control of the sound?

I've never noticed an airbag sensor like that on my other cars, interesting.

All cars have airbag sensor in front bumper........once the sensor gets crushed on impact it triggers the air bags to blow

I don't doubt that, I just don't remember seeing one like it and it didn't register that's what it is. Maybe other cars embed it in the bumper skin?

Uh-oh, \thread... That actually makes more sense to me, if I were to take a wild guess.

That's the Outside Ambient Tenp Sensor.

Anything dealing with the air bag are clearly marked and very obvious to be able to distinguish from other stuff. And the air bag sensors are behind the front fenders (mounted on the chassis) just behind the headlight.

The horn next to the driver strut mount is alarm only while the other two are your move-***** messages in high and low. When you alarm goes off, all horns sound and watch your ears.

Oh, the alarm uses all three horns for extra volume? That's starting to make more sense now. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't use the standard horn(s).

My gut feeling is you're right about that sensor being outside air temperature. (And boy am I happy other people are confused about this topic, after the embarrassingly dumb horn question!) It looks like a temp sensor, not any airbag related device I've seen previously. Having an airbag crash sensor exposed to flying rocks wouldn't seem too bright... I guess the cabin temp's are read from one of the corner dash sensors (the other being light for auto headlights?) to differentiate it from ambient air?

on the corner of your dash is the solar sensor for the AC

the cabin temp sensor sits next to your ignition key

The outside temp sensor and the cabin sensor supposedly work together... but I never noticed it does. My AC works fine. My dash displays an outside temp of -22.

Your dash displays outside air temp? What year is yours?

^^^ Correct answers. I just ran across it in the FSM, section AC-133. Technically, "Ambient Temperature Switch."
