what are all these horns?
Are there multiple horns on the SC400?
Picture #1 is the left side of the open section in front of the radiator.
Picture #2 is the right side of the bumper opening. BTW, what's that sensor for in front of the horn? Is it measuring air speed or temperature?
Picture #3 is just behind the battery and main fuse box. I'm not actually sure that one's a horn, but it looks horn-like.

I never promised all my questions would be good ones.
It's been ten years since I worked on a car horn, but now that you mention it, I do remember replacing the pair of them... And I wondered about the alarm, but I figured that would use the regular horn. Is it a separate one to allow more control of the sound?
I've never noticed an airbag sensor like that on my other cars, interesting.

That's the Outside Ambient Tenp Sensor.
Anything dealing with the air bag are clearly marked and very obvious to be able to distinguish from other stuff. And the air bag sensors are behind the front fenders (mounted on the chassis) just behind the headlight.
The horn next to the driver strut mount is alarm only while the other two are your move-***** messages in high and low. When you alarm goes off, all horns sound and watch your ears.

Oh, the alarm uses all three horns for extra volume? That's starting to make more sense now. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't use the standard horn(s).
My gut feeling is you're right about that sensor being outside air temperature. (And boy am I happy other people are confused about this topic, after the embarrassingly dumb horn question!) It looks like a temp sensor, not any airbag related device I've seen previously. Having an airbag crash sensor exposed to flying rocks wouldn't seem too bright... I guess the cabin temp's are read from one of the corner dash sensors (the other being light for auto headlights?) to differentiate it from ambient air?
