Why are 97+ cars so much better?

another thing is just flat out age. when a vehicle first comes out to the market theres still some room for improvement like recalls and increasing technology that gets considered every year. take a 93 vs a 95, same thing pre-97 but certain differeances were made. 97 vs a 00'. same thing on any car really all 96 vehicles in US start going OBDII. even a honda civic
a 93 at 100k vs a 97 at 100k. same wear but the parts are newer.

I have a 97 and my 95. There is nothing that special about a 97 really to pay more for it. Yea it has different bumpers and tail lights that look ugly unless u get rid of the grandpa looking chrome trim they have like I did. I prefer my 95 with OBD1 for sure. I would say a 98+ SC 400 is a more special model that has actual upgrades.

Foreword:I'm NOT a big fan of 97+, and don't really care for it. I've owned plenty of 97+ parts except the door sills. 97+ is but mere currency to me that is globally accepted in the SC community.
· Age: I love how everyone is like "LOL IT LOOKS NEWER." or "LOL IT HAS ROUND FOGS THAT GO BETTER WITH THE BODY" or "OMFG 97+ TAILS!!!!!"
- 97 was so 16 years ago get over it. The over all 97+ look was a forerunner to the SC430. Those extra curves on the rear bumper are just nasty and unnecessary. The front bumper = lol as it was extended about an inch...
- Tail lights" They HELLA scream "2000ish" LEXUS when they got lazy due to success. Sorry, but I prefer my SC from the time frame where LEXUS not only fought for a name. But made shock waves in the BMW and BENZ industry.
The biggest problem with 92-96
Too many of you guys are buying cheap beat up SCs as a project. Few people buy a good condition SC they can enjoy, then mod. SC community be like "Bought this SC for 1500, how do I change a headlight?" Noobs...
And let's not forget the ignorance. Between here and the Facebook crew. There are still too many people that don't know the difference between 92-94 with 95-96, and the similarities 95-96 share with 97-00.
Anyways, props to the REAL True owners that have a 98-00 (97 is basically a "pretty 96"). Ad just to let you know... 94 stick shifts are RARER than 97s...
As for what I drive? I bought a 1995 stick shift SC300 with 81k miles. Enjoy...

97 is the first year with the new body style and the last year with the non vvti motor which makes NA-T a sc300 really easy and a lot more bullet proof then a 98+ sc300 vvti. Personally I like the newer aero and since it was non vvti I can push over 600 on stock internals. 97 sc300 comes with a crank sensor so using GTE cams you just need a cam sensor and coilpacks with a standalone of course. Interior is all the same beside my needles aren't burnt out.

I have a 96 sc400 and a 97 sc300 na-t
I like the fact that these are different cars, in look and in performance. I really wish my cars were not OBDII, because then i could be cat-less with my 400, and not have to go through all the headaches with my 97 na-t just so i could pass emissions

The style of the car just changed so drastically that people collect those pieces just to complete the newer body kits. Most of the time the 97+ SC's are more taken care of for some reason, so most of the time it's just a nicer car stock. However, I believe every SC has the same potential.

Not every 97+ was preserved. Someone destroyed this 98 i picked up
No 97+lights. Nothing all beatup
Was lucky to get some foglights and all the aero
After having two 93 s. I enjoy that year. This vvti stuff is a nightmare to me

Do you say legend as in Acura Legend or is there some "legendary" SC you're referring to?
If Acura Legend, I sold my 6 speed coupe to get my current SC, was my all time favorite car, so much character, this SC will never entirely replace it.
I have a 92 and I really don't see or feel the major difference in quality of the car between it and the many newer years I've tested, it just comes down to what its been through since the 90's. I'll agree the newer aero parts do take out some of the age wrinkles if you will, but by no means does it make or break the car. If the stance is right and its been kept clean, I'd take either in a coin toss. If you bought a vvti car then you've got a time bomb if you boost it, same as buying an earlier model and expecting to update the exterior, pros and cons of both..

anything that is rare is considered to be better, but its all preference, id love to have a 2000 sc, but im quite happy with my 92, ill be the first sc with historic plates soon
