A trans filter is generally a metal screen. Stick to a well known brand and your fine.

I bought the ATP filter and I'm happy with the quality. The stock filter in the trans is a metal screen and you can actually clean it. I chose to change it though because the stock screen is 20 years old. The ATP filter is not a metal screen but I don't think any of the aftermarket filters are. The gaskets on the ATP kit are good too.

Thats interesting.... whats in your atp filter??? Every filter with the same style as an a340e i have seen very simply consisted of a metal screen. The only ones i have seen different are aftermarket canister style in-line filter

Go OEM and you'll never have an issue.

From my understanding only the original transmission filter is metal screen style. The aftermarket ones are paper style. I could be wrong but that's my understanding.

Also I don't even think you can buy the original transmission filter from lexus anymore. They are technically supposed to work forever. If you were able to purchase one, I'm curious as to how much it was. Thanks
