Least Experienced SC owner
it's very simple.. get an auction license and buy cars for mad cheap, and resell
my dad use to do this, and i know many others. One of my friend that gets dealer auction cars, buys the cars, drive it around for fun while selling it.
or you can sell hachi roku. Find a some 85-87 toyota corolla GTS for under 1k, and you can resell them for like 2-3k because everyone wants to be mad drifto y0

That's exactly right. I also buy off of ebay. For example, I bought an 89 Mustang built to the hilt a year ago for 6 grand. I drove the crap out of it and took it to the track for 6 months, then sold it for 8 thou. That's one of the best examples, but, just goes to show you don't necessarily have to have a dealer's license to do this.
Requirements for a dealer license in MO are to have an established residency for the business, and to sell a minimum of 6 cars per year. But, like I say, you don't have to have one to do well. You just have to keep your eyes and mind open. Find the sellers that are itchin to get rid of the car and then low-ball them. A car that can make you money won't always be one that you'll like. I've had a sleuth of POS's.
My lexus, unfortunately, is one I'll lose money on. But I don't care, it's by far the best car I've ever had. Period.

Yea, i had a ford ranger, sold it and with that money used it as a down payment for my 93 SC(and since payed it off, so its all mine!). I got a good buy on i too, for 6 grand, only because it had a salvaged title (the passenger side door was minorly hit, but was fixed, cant even tell it got hit) and with 16,000 miles on it(the guy who had it used it as his weekend car). Ive had it for about 8 months and i like how it runs, but i would like to add some turbo and all that good stuff.
Im a 19 year old college student at UC Riverside, so i dont have enoufh money for mods yet, since x-mas is coming i have to buy presents, so all my mods will have to wait until after x-mas(dammit). But I plan on selling it down the line and purchasing a supra (yayay!)

Well i'm 21. Started out with a 87 GMC Conversion van when I was 18, after 6 months traded it in on a 92 Lexus LS400 with 290,000 KM. Kept the LS400 for 2 years and then sold it to one of my friends with 361,000KM. I was looking for an 92-94 SC400. I live in Nova Scotia Canada, and there was only one SC forsale that I could find in the entire province other then a new SC430 at the dealership. That SC ended up having a blown transmission. I finally found another SC about 2 weeks after I sold the LS. I found it in Toronto, flew up and picked it up and drove home (about 20hr drive). I bought a 92 SC with 130,000 Km (90,000miles) with GS430 17's + set of winter rims/tires on it. for $15,500, CND. $10,000 of which was financed. I'm only a college student so can't afford the to pay for cars in cash just yet. But I have a part time job which gives me enough money for car payment/repairs. I also just bought a 91 Toyota Tercel for the purpose of reselling for a profit, but i'm thinking of storing the SC for the winter this year, since it's never been winter driven. But i'm not sure if I can handle driving a tercel...

Bringing back an old-er thread, but just adding my info/background in case anyone cares.
i'm 20, paid for my '93 sc300 in full by myself. Paid around $9k , $10k after tax/registration for it with 83k miles couple weeks ago. I sold my 1991 Eagle Talon I had for $10,800. Yep, that is quite a bit for a 1991 eagle talon but it was "heavily modded". It made 617whp/504tq and ran some crappy times on lower boost than it was tuned for. I paid for that too a year before and all $10k in mods put into it. I worked alot of overtime to pay for mods. The car before that was my other talon, which I parted out to pay for these "race" parts for this past talon. Before that, I had a '92 Honda prelude which I paid for completely when I was 16 and got my license. I modd'd that too, but nothing compared to the talons. Paid for all the cars myself working while going to high school since I was 14; worked while in college, and work right now to pay for gas/insurance/mods. Now, I plan to mod this sc300 with 97 body parts, and turboing it to make a simple 400-500 whp, but that's gonna take about a year so til then, peace. It sure does feel good knowing you paid for everything you own though.

Heh!
Paid 11,400 for my 1995 sc300 white, with 78k in June 2004, now have 80k. Traded in my bus pass and sketchers for it (true!). I'm 26 and I'm a bank slave for wells fargo bank, I have a similiar job to peter gibbons from Office Space (must see!!).
Rode the bus for one year (no exageration) because banks don't like to finance people who work for temp agencies, which was the case for me!!! until June of 2004. The 1989 acura integra I did have, caught on fire!!!!!!!!! Here are some pics of the old teg: www.geocities.com/g1teg89
New pics of the sc: www.geocities.com/sc3002004
A million times better than riding the bus with meth-heads, and smelly people...
Love the car a lot, my only complaint is that they HAD to have been smoking crack cocain when they decided on the brake system, it's borderline/unsafe for a car that heavy (and YES I've had the brakes done/inspected 2x in 6 months), so I guess rotora or brembo is gonna get my money

And as for your brakes, LS4 or Supra brakes are very affordable and trust me they will make you happy. The stock brakes are a joke and SC's should have come with the 4-pots from the factory. Stops wonderfully. You will need bigger wheels for either one.
Those photos look like nature postcards. It's hard to believe that you've got that finely tuned a photography eye .....but I guess someone has to take those pictures you find on the nature postcards.
Photographers make decent money....

I'm 21, and believe it or not, I've owned over 25 cars, most of which I sold for profit. My dad's been a dealer for 20 years and after watching him be able to drive a nice car for 6 months and still sell it for a profit seemed like heaven on earth to me. It's like getting paid to drive a car. So, when I was 13 I mowed yards with a lawn tractor I bought. I turned around and sold it for profit and bought my first car; a 1985 Dodge 600. It idled at 2000 rpm. But, I made 300 bucks on it. Three years later I was driving 7-8,000 dollar cars. Now I have multiple cars, one of which is my Lexus. It's been an incredible experience that I've enjoyed every bit of, except for the few that I lost money on
. So, to sum it up, I paid for mine in cash.

I purchased my SC300 manual when I was 15. (Now I am coming up on 18.) Anyways, its got the JIC body kit, brand new two tone leather with heaters and messagers, new cluster backlights and needles, all new power steering system, and some other little stuff to keep it in tip top shape.
