Default Tranny slips only once per day when cold

I have read a number of posts on the SC forum where some of you guys had the same problems I am having. Actually the LS, GS, and SC forums all had complaints from this problem, but no one seemed to write what the problem ended up being.

I have a 94 GS300 and the automatic transmission only slips in 1st gear when it is cold and sitting overnight. It only does it once in 1st and when it shifts to second the problem never comes back. After that initial slip, the problem never comes back and I have full capacity because I can break the tires loose. I have read that some of you guys put it in drive and went no where. I am hoping it is just a solenoid. Any of you guys have the same experience and what was cause of the problem.

Have you checked the fluid level lately?
Auto trannies will do that when low.

My 95 SC400 never slips in the morning.
My 00 GS400 does it once when cold.

I have done all the obvious: including replacing the transmission oil with T-IV and the level is correct. I guess I am going to have to break down and spend $100 on a manual and try to see what is wrong with it.
