Everything in my gauge cluster works, except for the speedometer! I've just ordered a speed sensor, but from what I've read, there are 2 speed sensors in my car? Any tips on installation? Or anything relevant to my problem?
I've been trying to search for the answer to my spedo problems, but havent came to any specific answer. Please help! thanks!

 

i have the same problem but both with my tac and speedo, they choose when to work it seems. i was assuming it was the sensors, if anyone has any feedback thatd be great

 

If your SC has Trac, there should be a speed "sensor" on each wheel. (to detect) But the one that powers your Speedometer/Odometer will be the one at the tailshaft of the transmission. Make sure the Odo is working as well.

 

Hi I am new to the group and I have learned alot about the vss speed senor form this page, this there any way to know for sure if it the the sensor with taking it to a tranny shop and paying them to check it out? 1992 sc 300 so it has the OBD 1 on it, and that will be an issue form now on maybe, I have had this car for 3 years, the abs light and trac light have been on for a while, I know what those issues are. but now that the speedmeter is on 0 all the time than 2 days later the odometer stopped working and than the o/d light is flashing. I tried to do I ecu reset and the o/d light was for a while and than back on and back off. But I don't thnk overdrive it working due to the high rpm's. I can get an vvs speed sensor on e-bay and I have a friend that can put it in. I just wanted to see what ideas, anyone here would be kind enough to help me with. Please and thank you this is driving me nuts..
