^^ custom driveshaft. KA trans coupler on the transmission side and either an SC front shaft connection to the SC carrier bearing or just a big, long one piece driveshaft from the KA transmission to the SC rear diff. Same as pretty much any mixed-manufacturer swap.

I get my w58's at the junkyard. I've had 3 because the first lost a main seal, the second was whining (it was my buddy's old drag trans) and blew the gears. Other than that the'yre plenty strong. My friend has a 1jz cressida with 500whp and it's fine, and mine has 300 whp and it's fine (replaced all the seals). I don't see any reason for putting a truck trans in place where another truck (w-series) trans can go with ease. Plus all those s13/14 guys buy them up at the junk yard. The W-series came in most everything (except the turbo truck and the turbo supra) so they're pretty east to find at the junkyard.

That's relative to where you live. When I lived in So Cal SC parts were plentiful but in MN not so common. Finding a manual Toyota with a W transmission if pretty hard to do here.

I can agree, i don't know what junk yards are like out there, i assume full of GM/ Ford products. IDK if they even have a pick a part out there. But if they do, here's a helpful W-series link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_W_transmission
and i think all toyota except the R/V series have the same output shaft size.

There is two specific threads in the build section that cover this swap. Afaik, the Ka swap is easier than any if the others (if speed sensor isn't important to you or DDBox it). I'm on my cell so I can't reference them but they are bookmarked on my PC. Basically all you need is the tranny, adapter plate, hydraulics (pedals, master, line), clutch/flywheel (clutch will be KA and flywheel will be Tacoma). You can even use the spline adapter to get the 240 shaft to fit without cutting. When I priced it out I came to $1k total (my price with contacts).

Good luck

Please give any more details you have about this swap.

Because if you can dramatically lower the cost of a manual swap into a SC400, I'm all in. I would do this swap if it was a little bit more affordable on any given day!

Please do not let this slip away! I am very interested.

Thread

Adapter plate (for shaft to dif) is $179 at a website (can't post outside links) called te driveshaftshop iirc
Adapter plate for bell housing (with shaft extension for clutch) is $600 - $1200 depending on which if te three sites you pick (once again outside link) which I found on Soarer central.
Pedals sc300, supra, or the stock KA24 pedal can be made to work (it's on CL how to make any of these work)
Clutch hydrolics can be had under $100 if you go with wildwood
Shifter, might get a free one but a real nice one can be had for under $200
Tranny mount will be the Sc one modified to fit the Nissan mount
And last lye is the trim piece. I seen a used one go for $40 in the user classified but can be found brand new under $200

Hope that helps. If I could post links it would be easier to show you. This is my plan, I already got the master and tyranny. My 240 shaft was bent so....... I'll prolly cut my Sc one and fit the Nissan yoke on there for about $150

Here is another thread using te Nissan 6speed. The swap is the same just different tranny (dimensions are roughly the same too)

I also once read about an whole 6-speed transmission Greddy or some other company sold for S14/S15 Silvias to replace their fragile factory 6-speeds.

Anyway, it sounds like the KA24DE 5-speed can take a fair beating to a point. I'm curious as to how it stacks up against the Toyota W58.
The ka trans holds up but its reccomended to have custom titanium shafts milled
