whats the best way to get to that clip. i cant get the thing out. is it only the one nut and the clip that it holding it in?

It's been so long since I wrote the DIY, that I don't specifically remember removing the clip. I don't recall it being particularly difficult to remove. But maybe yours was jammed or something. Glad to read that you were able to remove it and that my DIY helped you.

just thought id add my 2cents, everyone trying to explain the crackin of the vents,i dont undertstand what does it, but ive had my sc for over 3 years now, and ive never had A/C, so i always roll with the windows down, and its not really the most extremest weather out here in southern cali, well 2 years and the vents were fine, no cracks, i went to iraq and left my car undriven for about 7 months, and then driven occasionally for about 5 by a friend, then i came home, and lots of cracks, who knows wtf for, but i doubt it was the climate control, i assume black car/grey interior, it gets reallly Fn hot in there daytime with windows closed, seen gummy bears turn to gummy soup(and cd cases warped), iono, just thought id add that

over 4 years later and this thread is still helping others

just got done with mine. btw, there are at least two different oem vent surrounds. i bought a used one from a 2000, and the side bracket is different. i'll take pics and make a post about it.

yes they do..both real, and appliques..i forgot where to get them though. but if you do a search, im sure you will find the info on where to get them, and who has them. i think acleansc has them..you might wanna ask him
