Default interior help!!!!!

Hey whats guys. Im pretty new to CL and just purchased a 92 sc300. The body and paint r in very good shape. Problem is the previous owner tried to change the interior to black and its BAD!!! I don't mind black or tan interior but there r runs and over spray everywhere. My question is how to go about removing the black paint. Itried to use paint sripper on some parts and the plastic did not like it. Any help would b great! Thanks guys

Regular old sand paper or steelwool and elbow grease.

edit: let me clarify. 800grit sand paper, or "00" steel wool. Smooth the painted pieces, clean them with some mineral spirits or something similar, and respray them.

... if any paint stripper harms the plastic, your choices are limited.

You can
1) Replace all the painted parts with original parts from another SC
2) Repaint all the painted parts to the color of your choice
3) Consider vinyl wraps which includes select colors, carbon fiber looks, etc.
4) Leave it...

All dried paint drips/ runs can be sanded down so it can be as flat as the rest of the surface. For overspray, I'm not sure if it will work efficiently but you can try to use a clay bar used for exterior car detailing purposes (not just any clay, if you're not familiar). That can remove paint overspray very well. Or you can try a very slight abrasive wax.

I am currently looking for interior parts but as u know they can b hard to come by so if anyone has any they want to get rid of send me a pm. For now ill just keep trying different things.

Oh, wait, I think I misunderstood your post. So its just sprayed on everything? Like random drunk spray painting?

Oh yeah. Its everywhere. On the door panels he didnt take any switches apart, just sprayed over everything. The bottom part of the dash is sprayed without masking anything.

I got it for1800. The body is in awesome shape and it has 135000 miles on it. I already checked a couple yards in the area. I want to check some more but its been like 10 degrees outside the last couple of weeks. Honestly I realize that it would be this tough finding replacement interior parts.

There are two posts in the classifieds that are selling complete interiors, or darn near everything. Check there. I would just sand the panels down, clean and prep nice, and then pull out and respray with SEM paint. Do it right and take your time. You can follow my buddies interior that I am doing for him, it is called, Jays Sc300 2jzgte , etc... in this section.

1JZPWRD I saw your thread. that interior is turning out great. Im a little hesitant about paint. A little worried the paint is not going to hold up. Im not a paint/body guy, im a Toyota tech by day. Not sure if I have your patience, I am definitely envious of your work.

Well thanks man. If you are worried about the paint dont be. If prepped and cleaned properly it will hold up great.
