95 SC300 32K Miles, How Much to Ask for it?
Hi all, I could really use your help. I'm helping my mom sell her 95 SC300 for her since she is too old and too ill to drive any more. She is the original owner and has been meticulous about upkeep, taking it to the Lexus dealer for all its servicing at the proper intervals. It has lived its life in a warm southern California climate, and kept in her garage. To boot, it only has 32,700 miles on it!
I ran a Carfax on it, and unfortunately an accident showed up (originally she didn't tell me about it as she said she barely even remembered the incident, and to be honest, I would have never known about it looking at the car, which is almost flawless...) While she was shopping somebody hit her parked car. She didn't even notice the damage until the next day. Naturally, she filed an insurance claim to get it fixed (what any sane person would do...) It was repaired, I'm sure by a very reputable body shop. However, it does appear they repaired or replaced the door and the rear quarter panel. I doubt very seriously there was any chassis damage. It drives like a dream.
Mind you, this is an 18 year old car. So what I'm wondering, is how much do you folks think I should list it for? Originally I listed it for KBB $9,800, but now I'm thinking it's value is about 10 - 15% less ($8800 - 8300). Or should I list it for $7000 and be done with it? She, of course wants a minimum $9K to help offset her medical bills, but clearly her expectation is unrealistic. I'm just trying to figure out where to set her new expectations. Thank you!
