Default 98+ Gated Shifter ECT Wiring Question

Ok guys,

I've got gated shifter installed and eveything is working perfectly. The only thing I have left to do is wire ECT switch. Looking at the switch and looking at the diagram posted by Jeslet,I have some concerns.

On my ECT switch I have five pins versus the ten shown on the diagram. I also don't have a harness that plugs in to the ECT so knowing which pin goes to what wire on the 97 300 harness would be great. Anybody have this info?? Pics below of what I'm talking about. Also, as you can see my switch has seen better days so Iwant to replace. According to what I can pull from the Sewell web diagrams it looks like Part# 8498824040C0 is the part I need. Can anyone confirm??

Shane

If you notice on Jeslet's diagram, there are 10 pins but only 5 are utilized as well. The remaining one is for the light bulb, which you'd hardware in to the cigarette lighter or you can hardware along with the other light for the shifter plate.

King,

Yeah, but the 98+ harness he is showing for the ECT is a ten pin and wouldn't plug into my ECT switch which is an eight. Hope that makes since. I have everything else hooked up and working fine.

Ok, I see now. I haven't installed mine, 'cause I decided to just cut the plugs off my old one, or go to the junkyard and cut the plugs from another SC, just so I can keep it plug and play. Anyways, I've already gone through the entire process a hundred times to get a better understanding on what I would be dealing with. The difference of our gated shifter is, mine came with the plug that extends to the plug from the car itself. I guess, yours didn't that's why you're at a lost right now. Here's what I'm talking about.

ECT switch button + extension wire

10 pin plug at the other end of the extension wire

King,

If you could pull some of that black sleeving back from the plug end that plugs into switch and I could see some colors and pin locations that would be great. I can solder to switch once I know there locations. Appreciate all the help.

King,

Little confused again. Are you sure that's the end that plugs into the actual switch??
Looks different.

Thanks,

Shane

Here's the one that plugs to the ECT switch.

Just take note of the clip to know which direction the wire goes..
