djb5118's 1992 Sc300 - Member Journal - Top Speed Exhaust installed w/ sound clip!
Well guys, I introduced myself here a while ago when i first bought my car. But, now I'm bored at work, so I'm going to make a "journal thread" if you will. Basically, I'll update here after I do anything new/different to the car.
So here's a little timeline...
This is where it all began back in July (camera phone pic):
I got the car from an older couple who had inherited it from a deceased family member. It's a 1992 SC300 5spd in Garnet Pearl. When I got it, there was only 99,000mi on the odometer, so naturally it was mint. Not to mention the original owner had just had $5,000 of mainenance done at 93,000mi (belts, struts, etc...).
Started off with a Mobil 1 synthetic oil change, and its been running like new since day 1.
Needless to say, I was lucky to find a 5spd on the east coast in such great condition (not to mention the fact that I got a good price for it)
I was able to get some sweet pictures within the first few weeks of ownership:
Later, I removed that hideous bumper sticker, and we went out and got some rolling shots:
As you can see, the paint is in really good condition for its age.
This is one of my favorites...every car ad has water, right?
I was able to do a full detail two weeks ago, including claybar, polish, etc.
I was also able to make some sweet bumper plugs for less than 1$, which really make the front bumper look much better
This is how it looked afterwards (same cameraphone as 1st pic):
Pretty good IMO!
So now, I have an oem front lip waiting for me at home. As far as my future plans, I kind of want to keep it looking beautiful and stock for a while since it is in such good shape. Although, theres a little part of me inside that wants to tune it, I still think having this car many many years down the road, and to have it be virtually unmolested will be pretty freaking cool.
More updates to come!!!!!
