I am not a huge fan of plasti dipping car parts but in the case of the window trim it was awesome!

Here is a pic...

To be honest I have an easy 6-8 hours in this project which all of the masking is painful as well as the prep but I demand 100% perfection of my self when I take on projects such as this one.

It sucked!!!!

I just did this lil mod, I 1st used plasti-dip but after it dried i wasn’t feeling it so i removed it. The next day i went ahead with the blackout tape route ... it looks amazing once finished especially on a black SC, i highly recommend it

When you guys Plasti-Dip to you just wipe down the chrome trim and then spray it? Or do you have to scuff up the chrome first?

Just clean it real good with some rubbing alcohol to get any oils or wax off and you're good to go. No need to scuff it up.

I did mine. It looks better than it did, but the stuff seems to peel back off pretty easily. Would be nice if there was a way to spray something over the top to stop it from peeling back off so easily.

Suggestions: as mentioned above, either remove the tape while it's still wet or else be prepared to go around the whole thing with a blade to remove your tape.

Here is mine in vinyl. I completed this in about an hour using two 1/2" long stripes of oracal matte black wrapping film. It came out pretty nice but I had to overlap a few pieces around the round curves. Most car dealers do this when wrapping window trim so I made it look pretty factory. I know my 2008 Honda Fit and my old 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege both have window trims wrapped with matte vinyl.

Here's a close up of my custom vinyl pillar that I completed last year. It's still holding up very well.

I'd like to see two SC's side by side, one chrome, one black ...
Why do people dislike it so much?
