Default plastic clip passenger side door handle

while shopping at wal-mart last night (how do you think i can afford a Lexus) some one tried to slim jim the passenger door hahahahahahaha yeah they left scratch marks on the rubber seal and window and doing so detached the metal rod from the handle and broke the ears off the plastic tab (the little plastic "Z" that connects the handle to the rod)

what exactly is this part called and can i get a new one from Lexus with out buying a new door handle, rod, or door latch mechanisim???

make sure you dont roll down your passenger window at all or it will damage that metal rod and cause a whole other headache.

I have used a 5/64 x 1-9/16 hair pin. Put the rod through the handle and put the pin on the other side you should feel the grove notched out of the rod. I slid my pin on that notch its been over a week now still no problem.( i did this on the driver side)

FYI it is easier to do if you remove the bar in the door there is wires running on it. I just undone the bolts I was able to get both hands in their made it easier.

And also everyone posted to me when I was looking for a "snap" which is what Lexus calls it.
Take it to your closes Toyota dealer parts dept they should be able to hook you up.

I still have not done this yet. my temp fix is still working great and my closes Toyota dealer is about 1 hour away.

(mutt its simply 8 bolts and 3 wire harnessed that connect the door panel you insert the clip then slide the rod in to it and snap the lower portion of the clip on the rod takes like 10 minutes to install it)

i didnt even think about going to a toyota dealership so i drove to the other side of town to the lexus dealership and they sent me over to toyota for the parts i paid $23 for a calender and got 2 door "clips" (its not even that nice of a calendar... 10.99 a door got one for the drivers just incase)

now i am having an issue after installing the one in the passenger door....

when i have the exterior door handle installed with no interior the door locks and stays locked
when i install the door panel and pull on the inner handle the outter handle lifts up i lock the door and a few jiggles of the handle and the door opens???

any thoughts....

Yes I know I was talking about once you had the door panel off there is a bar with three or 4 bolts, it just made it easy to put both arms in to put the hair pin on. But I agree the snap would been easier just did have time to drive 1 hour to try Toyota and door broke on sat,

I am glad Toyota help out. sorry that your having trouble.

Just checking if you did not accidentally put on the driver side snap on. I heard there is a difference between the driver side and passenger side. or Toyota accidentally gave you the wrong snap?
