may it be the new toyota recall where cars automatically accelerate! :eek2:

CBMG5 Jun 26, 2012 09:44 PM

what does that mean?

Toyota a couple years ago had a recall on newer Toyota's that automatically accelerated, I doubt you have the same problem though

any other symptoms...the car is an antique so there are a lot of things that may need to be looked at

exactly how much is it revving? a few hundred rpms? it's a mechanical linkage to the throttle body so there's no way for the throttle to open without your foot on the pedal. it could be a vaccum leak, does it rev up and down?

looks to me like you may have a sticky throttle body/intake, clean out your intake, check your tension... just my 2cents, even if it's not worth anything! :)

Check your throttle cable, maybe its too tight. It happened to.the.family suv, something the cable.would stick. Loosen the tension a bit, really easy to do.
